Triang Period Bed Room Suite PF/20
Lines produced a wide selection of dolls houses, but did not make furniture to furnish them. Eric Elgin made and sold quality wooden furniture [1919] identified by having ELGIN/ENFIELD stamped into the base. Elgin supplied furniture to Lines Brothers without his makers stamp from approx. 1921/1922 onwards. He continued to make furniture for Lines until 1926, after which Triang took over production themselves.
Dating is difficult, because of use of Elgin name stamp. Unmarked pieces would be from the Triang era, but it is difficult to say whether they are from the Elgin for Tri-and proper period [1922-1926] or whether they are Triang manufactured from Elgin designs.
Up to now furniture for Dolls’ Houses has been made down to a price. PERIOD Furniture is made up
to quality only. All the famous Old Masters are represented in a scale of one inch equals one foot.
This is a size which suits admirably the average doll’s house. Ladies will love it and find a place for
“Specimens” on their bric-a-brac tables. It will help to educate the kiddies to love good furniture.
Considered on a quality basis few Toys are as cheap as PERIOD Furniture.
The illustration show some of the Suites which can be obtained. There are PERIOD DOLLS’ HOUSES EQUALLY GOOD
The suite in this Box is noted on a label on the Side of the Box. And both Furniture and Houses are British made by Craftsmen
The quality of this furniture is exceptional, the wood, construction and finish.
There are water stain marks on the wardrobe door, I will try and polish these out.
The furniture in this bedroom set does not have a makers stamp.
Due to high labour costs, this quality wooden furniture was very expensive to produce. In 1930 sets were also sold in kit form to build yourself, these include the Queen Anne Drawing Room and Bedroom. It came in a nice box containing the wooden parts, staining, lacquering and fabric covering.
